Background
Dr. Roeder has been with Purina Animal Nutrition for 18 years, serving on the Companion Animal, Private Label, and now Equine Technical Services Teams. She is a multi-species nutritionist who has worked with poultry, rabbits, small ruminants, wildlife, cattle, fish and horses. As a breeder of registered Angus cattle and a devoted dressage competitor, “I feel like I walk the walk as well as talking the talk. I know what the customer wants because I am the customer. I have a passion for all my animals, and I enjoy developing feeds that help to keep them at the optimal level of health and performance”.
Dr. Roeder earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and master’s degree in animal nutrition from Washington State University. She earned a Ph.D. in animal physiology from the University of Idaho, focusing on the effects of exercise on growth hormone-induced equine metabolic syndrome, a condition similar to early-stage diabetes that afflicts a significant segment of the equine population.
Dr. Roeder lives on a ranch in the Hill Country of Texas, along with two dogs, two horses, five barn cats, 22 Angus cattle, and one very supportive husband.
