      Description

Start with the amounts of Ultium® Competition Horse Formula given for the weight and lifestyle of the horse. After observing the horse for a period, the amount fed may be gradually increased or decreased to obtain the desired body condition and weight. For feeding directions outside the ranges addressed in these feeding charts, please contact your local Purina retailer or Purina Customer Service at 800-227-8941.

      Weight of horse in pounds
      LIFESTYLE 800 1,000 1,200 1,400
        (lbs/day)
      Minimum Hay or Equivalent Pasture* 9.50 12.00 14.50 17.00
      Ultium® Competition** (lbs/day)
      Light Work 3.50 4.50 5.50 6.25
      Moderate Work 5.00 6.00 7.25 8.50
      Heavy Work 6.25 7.75 9.25 10.75

      * This is the recommended minimum amount of hay to be fed. If feeding more hay, you may reduce the feedingrate of Ultium® Competition Horse Formula to maintain appropriate body condition.
** To meet nutrient requirements, do not feed less than 0.3 lbs. per 100 lbs. of body weight per day for mature horses at maintenance (3 lbs. per 1000-lb horse). If your horse gains too much weight at the minimum feeding rate, transition to Purina® Enrich Plus® Ration Balancing Feed.

NOTE: Feeding rates of Ultium® Competition Horse Formula and forage may be adjusted or feed may be top-dressed with Purina® Amplify® High-Fat Supplement for additional calories. Hard-working horses may also benefit from supplementation with Purina® Supersport® Amino Acid Supplement.

A 4-pound meal of Ultium® Competition Horse Formula supplies a full serving of Outlast® Supplement.

      Caution

Follow label directions. Feeding added selenium at levels in excess of 0.3 ppm in the total diet is prohibited.

      Important

      1. Feeding rates will vary with size, age, temperament, health status, forage quality, climate and activity level. Feed at regular times, at least twice daily. Do not feed more than 0.5 lbs/100 lbs of body weight per meal. Do not feed free-choice. Prevent rapid eating by the horse of any feedstuff.
      2. Reduce and/or delay feeding a horse which is hot, excited or showing pain, has fever or diarrhea. Consult your veterinarian if any problems arise.
      3. Always feed a minimum of 1.0 to 1.2 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight of good quality clean hay or the equivalent in pasture.
      4. Any feed changes should be made gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days. Changes in the rate of feeding should not exceed 1.0 lb per day for each horse.
      5. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Provide your horse with access to salt. Consult with your veterinarian regularly and maintain a routine dental, parasite control and health care program for your horse.

We had a 20 year old gelding given to us

He was a ranch horse from west Texas. He was in poor shape. I mean really poor. Started feeding him Altium 1 scoop twice a day with a 1/2 pail of chopped alfalfa each night. After 90 days you wouldn’t have thought he was the same horse! Really Amazing!!

Love this feed!

I’ve been using this feed for a few years now and love it! My horses never act hot. They are on minimal grass and this feed keeps weight on them better than other higher fat brands I have tried. Especially my horses that are not easy keepers! Their coat stays nice and shiny all year as well!
